Fish Lift Tube
Hydraulic fish passage – powered only by water
Dams and weirs block fish migration. Laws require a solution. But electric fish lifts are expensive, complex, and fail when power is lost.
Fish Lift Tube is different.
No electricity. No control room. No complex sensors. Just water pressure, a few valves, and a simple batch cycle.
Proven principle – based on hydraulic batch fish lift research successfully tested in Australia since 2022.
How it works (5 steps)
- Attract – Water flows through the tube; fish enter the capture chamber.
- Capture – The lower gate closes, trapping fish inside.
- Transport – An upstream valve opens; a surge of water pushes fish up the tube.
- Deliver – Fish discharge above the dam or weir.
- Drain – The system resets, ready for the next batch.
All driven by the existing water head – no pumps, no generators, no grid connection.
Why choose Fish Lift Tube?
- No electricity – Works anywhere, even remote sites. No power bills. No outage risk.
- Low maintenance – No motors, no electronics, no sensors to fail. Just valves and tubes.
- Fish‑safe – Smooth HDPE interior, no sharp edges, no high‑speed turbines.
- Grant‑friendly – Environmental agencies and water boards recognise hydraulic solutions.
- Proven principle – Based on decades of batch fishway research – now made simple and robust.
- Built to last – HDPE tubes and industrial valves – corrosion‑proof, UV‑resistant.
- Engineering & manufacturing since 2005 – Proven track record in hydraulic systems (algae cultivation, biodiesel plants, CNN featured).
- Manufactured in the Netherlands – Designed, engineered, and built locally to European quality standards.
Transparent pricing – no surprises
Conventional electric fish lifts often cost €100,000–200,000. Fish Lift Tube starts at €25,000 (excl. installation).
For that you get a complete, no‑electricity hydraulic lift – tubes, valves, capture chamber, and basic manual control.
Want fully automatic hydraulic cycle? Larger diameter for salmon? Custom head height? We’ll give you a fixed price after a short site assessment.
Disclaimer: Starting price depends on head height, tube diameter, and automation level. Excludes VAT, shipping, and site installation. Final price confirmed per project.

Who is this for?
- Water boards (waterschappen) – meet EU fish passage regulations without ongoing costs.
- Hydropower operators – comply with licences using a passive, reliable system.
- NGOs and foundations – cost‑effective fish passage for restoration projects.
- Government agencies – simple to tender, easy to install, no specialist operators needed.
What head range?
Fish Lift Tube works for low to medium head dams – typically 1 to 10 metres.
Higher heads? We can design a multi‑stage system. Contact us.
